a journey of life's pleasures…
Address: Pan Pacific Hotel, 207 Adelaide Terrace, Perth. WA
Couldn’t think of a nicer way to spend a Sunday afternoon than to catch up with some friends for High Tea. We decided to try out Origins Restaurant, tucked away at the back of the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth. It was a pleasant surprise when entering this restaurant to find that it opens up into a light filled space with lovely floor to ceiling glass facing the pool on one said allowing lots of natural light into the room. The decor was elegant and simple giving off a nice and relaxed ambiance to which you can begin the dining experience.
The high tea offered free flowing sparking wine to which we all declined in favour of the vast array of tea options to choose from – 34 teas to be exact! I went with the White Tea which had a light floral undertone and a subtle sweetness. Beautiful tea to drink just on its own.
This is probably one of the only high tea in Perth that I’ve been to which had a good balance of savoury and sweet dishes. This suited me fine as often the overload of sugary treats is almost too much, even for a sweet tooth like myself. The first plate was a savoury platter with a mix of soup, tempura and sausage on crostini. This was then followed by the tiers of goodies. The three tiers consisted of another plate of savouries along with two plates of sweets.
You can’t go past High Tea without the scones. These ones were fruit scones which were light and fluffy. However, the highlight of the sweets for me would have to be the banana and salted caramel tarts. I would have happily had a few of these!
Altogether, it was a lovely afternoon at a great little spot with delicious treats.
