For those that want delicious french cuisine in a funky colourful atmosphere, look no further cause here it is! I have wanted to try Bistro Guillaume for a little while now and I was not disappointed.
The staff was friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. On a couple of occasions we asked for recommendations and the staff were able to describe the dishes showing a good understanding of the menu.
We decided to order the charcuterie plate to start whilst we pondered what to have for mains. We were presented with an assortment of sliced meat, terrine and pate on wooden board. The terrine was lovely and full of flavour but the star for me was the pate with port. It was smooth, rich and sooooo delicious!
Shortly after we had cleared the starter we were presented with our mains to share. A chargrilled salmon with roast fennel, oyster mushroom, clams and beurre blanc along with a rack of lamb on a bed of ratatouille, tapenade and zucchini flower. Of course we had to order a side of their famous gratin dauphinois (potato gratin). When it arrived my mouth was watering just looking at it. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the sauce was creamy and well seasoned. The lamb was melt in your mouth and we both agreed it was one of the better lamb dishes we had tasted in Perth. Happy to say the potato gratin did not disappoint. Cheesy and creamy with the potatoes cooked just long enough. Yum!
Dessert was Valrhona chocolate and salted caramel tart with rum and raisin ice cream along with a passionfruit souffle with cream Chantilly, banana and passionfruit sorbet. Both were beautiful and we were happy that we shared as it meant we were able to enjoy both the richness of the tart and the light tangyness of the souffle.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience at Bistro Guillaume and will be back.
